Bye Bye Administration Blvd!

Well, here I am again, really late at night and I just spent the last few hours after my kids went to bed cleaning at my rental house. And hooray! I finished! Spic & Span clean! Looks pretty spiffy if I do say so myself! In many ways I am very relieved to say good-bye to this house. It's been sitting there un-lived in for many months, and I have some pretty bad memories from the last 2 months I lived there. But it's also sad for me to say good-bye to it. We did have good memories in it too. The kids loved living there and loved having rooms upstairs! They had a play room and we spent so many hours doing art projects at the kitchen table! Wednesday nights were family pizza nights, Tuesday mornings Kenneth used to bring me pumpkin cheesecake muffins and a carmel macchiato for breakfast, Thursday nights were Grammy nights and Grammy would come over for dinner and after dinner she would read books to the kids and they would play. As I was cleaning the upstairs bathroom I found the remains of a lock of Theo's hair from his last haircut there, and in his room some remains of silly-string from his birthday party. I remembered Fourth of July there and how we walked to hear the symphony down the street and then to get ice cream and then down our street to watch the fireworks on the lake. I remember one night that Kenneth & I were lying in bed, each of us with our laptops playing Text-Twist (an online word game) and laughing and helping each other out and seeing how long we could get the games to continue. I remembered how whenever I couldn't find Josie for a while, she was always up in her closet trying all of her clothes on because she could reach everything in her "Josie-sized" closet. I remembered trick-or-treating on the island and how much fun the kids had and how the wind was so strong off of the lake. It looked really cute in Christmas lights! There were good memories, which makes it that much more sad. I attached some photos in tribute of the house that was our home, if even for a short time.

Calgon Take Me Away!

I'm tired. But only my body is tired, not my brain, so I can't go to sleep right now, so here I am! After a busy day of Gymnastics lessons, Swim lessons, lunch and playing at McDonalds, paying bills, running errands, going grocery shopping and all the while taking care of two very active, very TALKATIVE kids, (did I stress talkative enough?) I got them both to bed and then headed down to the rental house that will officially not be mine as of April 30th. YAY! I spent the evening cleaning. It was a good workout! (trying to look on the positive side of things) I got a lot accomplished down there and if I do say so myself, it looks better than when I moved in! The claw-foot bathtub in the main bathroom is like a thousand years old (slight exaggeration), and is stained and all, so I just figured I'd do my best to get it as clean as I could, but I must say that it is cleaner than I thought was possible! Apparently while we were living there, I was using the wrong product on it, because tonight I used Lime-Away, and almost all of the stains vanished! I love that! Those of you that know me well, know that I don't enjoy cleaning, but I do love it when things are clean, and the end result is worth the effort.

This really wasn't a very exciting post, but hey, it's the best I could come up with right now! So back off! ;-) Just kidding! Tee-Hee!

4. If you could go back and change one thing what would it be? Hmm - so many to choose from, but just for fun, let's say that I wouldn't have believed my sister when I was 12 or 13 that all women shaved their arms. Big mistake.

6. What do you really want to be doing right now? Laying on the white powdery sands of St. John.

I Choose Joy

I used to think that Joy was a feeling, like happiness. Is Joy a mood? Is Joy something we have only when times are good? I don't think so. I think happiness is what we feel when times are good. I think Joy is what we can choose when times are hard. James 1:2-3 says: "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience." Joy is a fruit of the spirit; Gal. 5:22 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Are the fruits of the Spirit all easy things to achieve or are they a struggle? Well, I don't know about you, but I would say they are a struggle! They are things that you work on. Goals to achieve. Not a mood or a feeling. Sure, we are all naturally inclined to find one or two of these fruits easier to achieve than others. God gave us all gifts and abilities and we are all different. And, by the way, thank God for diversity! If we all had the same gifts, not only would life be very boring, but then we would never see how other gifts were lived out! So I am choosing Joy!!! Did you hear that? I have been tested in the past few days, but no one can steal my Joy! I will keep choosing it daily!!!

Labrador Retriever
The Caretaker

Your family is what makes you tick, and you never "flea" from an opportunity to hang out with the whole gang. A family picnic complete with hot dogs, deviled eggs and a refreshing swim in the lake is hard for you to stray from. Your sparky temperament and dogged intelligence mean you are not only a blast to hang out with, but great to work with as well. Your close pals appreciate your patience and forgiveness, knowing you'd rather let sleeping dogs lie than dwell on the mishaps of the past. Your dashing good looks may one day lead to a modelling career, if only you can tame the unfortunate clumsiness that sometimes causes you to go flailing from the catwalk.
Got this link from my friend Michelle's blog! Thought it was fun!

How Are You, Cathy? Glad You Asked!

So It's been a while since I've posted about how I'm doing. I've had a few people ask me lately what's up, so here I am. Well, I'm surviving! Life goes on! And here I am, with my life going on. And I can choose to be constantly angry, bitter, and resentful for the turn my life has taken, or I can choose to look on the positive side, allow myself moments of anger, get over them, and not let them overtake me, and realize how blessed I am! I choose the latter! Life is still good! I'm still smiling. I'm still laughing. I'm still enjoying my children and my friends and my family! And yes, there are moments in my life that suck! But I'm choosing to get past that, and enjoy the good ones! Like today - we had MOPS today, which I always enjoy, and I was thrilled to send my happy children to their classes and enjoy a cup of coffee and sit and hear about gardening. It was a very relaxing meeting and I love gardening, so I enjoyed hearing about it! I know this is going to sound crazy, but I actually love to weed gardens. Now maybe I wouldn't love it if I had to do it everyday, but I do really love to weed. I love to get my hands dirty and feel like I'm accomplishing something! It is very relaxing to me. We decorated wreaths at MOPS too, although I don't think that was something I excelled at, but oh well. I can't be great at everything, right? ;-) After MOPS I met my two great friends, Katie & Nicki at McDonald's and we all had a great chat while the kids all played. After we had been there a while, Kenneth picked up the kids for the night and I was on my own! Luckily, Katie invited me over to her house, because my alone time is when I start to get depressed. I used to LOVE to be alone, but when you are alone because you have just turned over your children to a man you don't trust, it's a struggle to be alone. So anyway, I went to Katie's house and we sat in rockers on her front porch and drank coffee and talked and laughed and I had such a great time!!! We sat there for 3 and a half hours I think and the time just flew by! It is so great to be with a friend whom you can be yourself with! After that I met my mom for a salad and then we came home and took a walk. I just needed to be out in the fresh air a little longer! Then this evening I did a computer project for my dad and then worked on my knitting. I am so excited. I feel like I accomplished so much tonight! I'm still a fairly new knitter, so I am very proud to say that I completely finished a project of firsts. It was the first time I made a hat. The hat was my first project on circular needles. Finishing the hat was the first time I had used 4 double-sided needles. And this is the first project where I followed a pattern! OH - This was also my first project that I used Purl on! HOORAY! I know these things may not seem like a big deal, but they are to me! Now I feel like I can take on something more challenging! Thanks so much to Dawn for teaching me and helping me purchase the right needles! ;-) Love you!

Okay, so now that you know I'm okay, I'm going to share with you something that I've been struggling with lately. So I went to Tennessee for a visit and it was great. A little too great. It was really hard for me to come back. I truly feel like Tennessee is my home and I did not want to leave. I lived there for 12 years, and since I'm 35 years old, that's pretty much my adult life. Driving around down there, I almost forgot that I had left. I had to stop myself from driving "home" a few times. In Tennessee I am my own person. I moved down there and started my life, and my friends there are family to me. My church there is family to me. I love it there. Here I often feel like Chuck and Paulette Sauders' daughter. And it feels even more like that since the kids and I have moved in with them. I know this is a temporary situation, and please know that I am SO COMPLETELY grateful to them! I could not be getting through this difficult time without them, and they have made it very easy for me to feel at home here again, but I think everyone could understand that as a 35 year old and as a parent, it is pretty difficult to go back to being the child again. I so look forward to finishing college so that I can have more options. Who knows where I'll be in 2 years? I may be deciding to build a house here in Warsaw, or I may be deciding to move back to Tennessee. Or I may be deciding to live somewhere totally different. Only God knows what my future holds for me and my kiddos, but the here and now is sometimes a challenge. Please pray that I will learn to be content in this part of my life. It IS temporary and the kids are absolutely loving living here. It is a great place to raise kids! Lots of room, lots of land, lots of toys, and lots of love! Thanks to everyone who has been praying! Love you!

Singing Happy Birthday to Josie

Josie's reaction while we were singing Happy Birthday to her today was so funny. She's definetly a different bird than her brother, who thrives on attention. She does not like people looking at her unless it's on her terms! ;-)

Celebrating Josie's Birthday Again!

Today was our family party to celebrate Josie's 3rd birthday! We had a great time together eating spaghetti and meatballs, Josie's favorite, and having yummy cake & ice cream! Once again, Josie got shy when it came to blowing out her candles, but no worries, she got plenty of help from everyone else! She was very excited about "being at her birthday", as she said.

Happy 3rd Birthday to Josie!

We celebrated Josie's 3rd birthday last Sunday night at the Lenox home and it was a fun and relaxing night! The kids had a great time playing together and the adults had a great time chatting together! I took Josie to two stores that afternoon to let her pick out a cake or cupcakes and this little princess picked out a very fancy cake! She's a lady who knows what she wants! :-) She got a little shy when it came to blowing out her candles, but enjoyed a book with Aunt Bethany!

Baby Shower!

Hooray! I'm so glad I scheduled my visit to TN when I did so that I could attend Andy & Michelle's baby shower! It was fun to be able to bless them and be blessed by seeing lots of friends who I haven't seen in a long time! Fun! Hooray for baby Zoe!

Time With Friends!

Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend as much time with Karin as we wanted to, but that's what happens when you have a friend who's a jet-setter and was leaving for a trip to France! ;-) But we did get to spend some time together and also with sweet Gracie-girl!

Get Along Little Doggies!

Theo & Josie just loved spending time with a few special pooches during our visit! Bethany brought Daisy Mae over for a visit which the kids really loved and Franklin and Miracle also got a lot of lovin from these guys! Theo gets teary each time he talks about them because he just loved them so much!

An Afternoon With The Lamm Kids!

The kids and I had a fun time staying with Georgia and Jude one of the afternoons during our visit! Josie & Georgia took out very book known to man, but had a great time! Theo enjoyed holding Bertie the snake!!! The kids were all so happy to be together!

Ice Cream

So I have the poll about favorite flavors of ice cream and someone voted for didn't like ice cream. I just can't understand a person who doesn't like ice cream!!! ;-) Whoever answered that, please come clean! HA!

I'm Back!!!

I didn't fall of the face of the earth. Just the face of Indiana! ;-) The kids and I took a trip to Tennessee for a week and just got back last night! Yippee! We all had such a great time. Theo had so much fun that he cried and cried when we had to leave and actually threw a big old tantrum when it was time to go. If I had thought I could have gotten away with it, I may have thrown a tantrum too! :-) Luckily we had great driving weather both directions and I survived being alone with both kids for 8 1/2 hours each way in the car. (sigh of relief) What did parents do before DVD players in cars? Thank goodness for What's New Scooby-Doo, Nick Jr. Favorites, and a My Little Pony Christmas movie. These videos kept them happy for the ride. And a few bribes of candy didn't hurt either! I'll be posting pictures later. I have many to post, and I'm tired right now! Pray for little Josie baby, she has Strep Throat. Just took her to the doctor today. Anyway, I haven't slept well for a while and I'm exhausted, so I'll write more tomorrow! Love ya!!!

Worms & Cornfields

Worms & Cornfields? That's a funny title! Well, that was what my day was about! I woke up this morning to a truly beautiful day outside! The sun was shining and it was warm and breezy! YAY! Looks like we may finally start seeing Spring here in Northern Indiana! Theo was already outside working with Granddad and two guys that he pays to do work around the house. They were cleaning leaves and winter debris from all of the landscaping and flower beds in the backyard! Josie decided that she would join them outside in her jammies and got straight to work digging in the sandbox! After sitting outside and helping weed for a while I took the kids on the Gator into the "back woods" (we have names for different areas of acreage here) to explore the swampy area. After a while of doing that we ended up in the cornfield where we spent a good two hours looking for worms. The cornstalks are dead and can be easily pulled out, so the kids were pulling corn stalks and looking in the loose dirt for worms. According to Theo's count we found, and all took turns holding, 23 worms, and one fuzzy caterpillar. It was really great to be out in the sunshine and fresh air looking for worms! Life goes on, and seeing the kids truly excited by each new worm was so refreshing! I love it when they are having fun together and not fighting. Being outside brings out the best in them. And you know what? I think it brings out the best in me too! The rest of the day was busy, and went by quickly, but I think I enjoyed worm-hunting in the cornfield the best!

So Much To Say

I have had so much to say over the last week that I've not been able to sit down and post because I have not been able to process and collect all of my thoughts. As I've been going through a book and re-reading a book on the five stages of grief through the eyes of divorce, I must confess that I've been in the depression stage. Reality is so strong and I have been so sad. Particularly since the court date. How could this be happening to me? To my children? This happens to other people, not me. It's overwhelming. The amusing part in the book is that when it begins the chapter on depression, it begins by saying, "Congratulations! The divorce path has now led you steadily down the road and straight into the pit stop called Depression. (We say congratulations, because you truly are getting closer and closer to becoming healed. It just doesn't feel like it yet!)" So there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The last stage is Acceptance, and while I've been reading that chapter and feel like I have moments of acceptance, I must say that I am not quite there yet. The tricky part is that I feel like every day is a roller coaster of all of the stages of grief. At some points of each day I still feel shock, denial, anger, depression, and acceptance.

One of the shocking moments came to me this weekend. For those of you who don't know, our church in Tennessee practices church discipline when need be and seeing as we are technically still members there, the pastors, after much prayer and thought, decided to exercise church discipline with Kenneth if he was unable to show any change. When they tried to reach him he would only respond to them through text messaging (this is the age of cowardice through technology) and in that "conversation" he still places the blame entirely on me for our failed marriage, is not sorry and is unwilling to change. They told him what would be happening this Sunday then, and this is the moment that I thought there may be a slight, even if it's not genuine, change of heart, but no. In the process of church discipline the member is ex-communicated until repentance is professed, so he just said his good-byes to the men in his life who have been the closest to him in his life, the people who have poured into his heart. I can't even imagine. This act of discipline follows Matthew 18: 15-17 which says: "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector." They have released their hedge of protection around his soul. I asked him yesterday, when he called to accuse me of exaggerating our story, if that bothered him. They would release him to the world - to Satan, and he said, maybe a little, but not much. Who IS this man? He is NOT the man I married, he is NOT the man I wanted to have a family with, he is NOT the man I loved. He is a stranger to me. This morning as Pastor Williamson spoke to the church, Tammy called me so that I could hear it over the cell phone. How unreal. How totally unreal that they could be talking about my husband, me, my family. The words seemed totally unreal. The charges; habitual adultery, abandonment, continuous lying & deceit, and unrepentance.

I have worn my wedding rings all of this time because I feel like it is the right thing to do until our divorce is final. After all, I am still married. But I must say that I really wanted to take them off today. The day was just confirmation that this is real. There is no denying his decision.
And guess what. In the acceptance stage, I must choose to forgive him. I know with God's help I can, and in some ways, I have, but I believe it will be a daily struggle for me.

"Answer me speedily, O Lord;
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me,
Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You."
-Psalm 143: 7-8

I'm sorry if my thoughts seem scattered today, but that is how I feel. Scattered.

Okay, so I found a website tonight and had a bit too much fun!!! Isn't this hysterical?
I needed a good laugh today!

I have always said Josie is a little monkey! The hands on this picture are a bit freaky! Yikes!
